THE ROUTE

This expedition will cover in excess of 23,000km, through 15 countries and across 4 continents. This journey is split into 7 segments. As much as possible will be human-powered. It is due to kick off in July 2027 and take approximately 18 months.

Sarah is planning to travel on Le Commandant Charcot to reach the North Pole. The ship departs/returns to Lonyearbyen. Sarah will travel from Longyearbyen to mainland Norway.

North Pole to Norway


From the most northern point in mainland Norway, Cape Norkinn, Sarah will bike pack through Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France and Spain.

Norway to Spain

After a couple of weeks, Sarah will swap pedals for paddles to kayak from Spain to Morocco. While the crossing will take less than a day, she will have time to prepare before. She will have an escort boat for this short section.

Spain to Morocco

Morocco to Senegal

It’s time to get back on the bike and travel through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Senegal where she will spend a couple of months preparing for the next section.

Senegal to French Guiana

Sarah will then take on one of the biggest challenges of this expedition and row across the Atlantic Ocean from Dakar in Senegal to Cayenne to French Guiana.

Sarah will have a month to prepare before getting back on her bike for her longest leg through French Guiana, Brazil, and Argentina to Ushaia.

Argentina to the South Pole

Sarah will have two months to prepare before the final leg. She will fly to Hercules Inlet from Punta Arenas. From there she will ski to the South Pole.
